Chemical composition and corrosion resistance:


The chemical composition of 316 stainless steel plates contains elements such as chromium (Cr) 16.0% - 18.5%, nickel (Ni) 10.0% - 14.0%, and molybdenum (Mo) 2.0% - 3.0%. 316L stainless steel plates are low-carbon versions of 316 stainless steel, with a lower carbon content, generally not exceeding 0.03%. The addition of molybdenum makes it more resistant to chloride corrosion than 304 stainless steel in various media, especially to chloride corrosion, and can withstand corrosion in marine and corrosive industrial environments. In marine environments, they can effectively resist corrosive substances such as chlorides in seawater, sea breeze, and sea fog, and are suitable for manufacturing equipment, pipelines, structural parts, etc. in marine engineering.

High temperature resistance:


Both 316 and 316L stainless steel plates have good high temperature resistance.
316 stainless steel can maintain good strength and stability in high temperature environments, and can withstand high temperatures of 1200-1300 degrees. It can be used intermittently below 1600 degrees and continuously below 1700 degrees, and has good oxidation resistance.
316L stainless steel can also be used intermittently in environments below 1600° and continuously in environments below 700°, and also has good oxidation resistance. However, it is best not to use these two stainless steels continuously within the range of 800-1575 degrees. When used continuously outside this temperature range, they have good heat resistance.

Strength and processing performance:


In terms of strength, 316 and 316L stainless steel plates have high strength and can be used to manufacture marine engineering parts that bear certain loads.
In terms of processing performance, they have good work hardening properties and will produce a certain degree of hardening after processing, but they are non-magnetic (in the solid solution state)
